Professor Gail S. Goodman is the Distinguished Professor of Psychology as well as Director of the Center for Public Policy Research at the University of California Davis. It is widely believed that she was the one who beginning the current scientific study of children's memories of eyewitnesses and children's victimes as witness in lawful contexts. Professor Goodman is an prolific writer who has received many awards and grants. She has consulted with numerous governments and agencies throughout the globe on policy and research concerning children who are victims of the justice system. She serves as a consultant to the Special Assault Forensic Evaluation Center - formerly Multidisciplinary Interview Center - of Sacramento County Child Protective Services. She has been a member of numerous professional organizations, such as that of Association for Psychological Science and American Psychological Association. (Divisions of Experimental Psychology, Developmental Psychology Society for Child and Family policy and practice American Psychology Law Society Psychology of Women and Traumatic Stress 56) Professor Goodman is part of the Psychonomics Society Society for Research in Child Development American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children as a Founding Member, International Society for the prevention of child abuse and Neglect and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She is the former president of American Psychological Association Divisions for Policy for Children and Families and Practice Division American Psychology Law Society and Division Developmental Psychology.
